Exposing Egypt’s intimate relationship with the Zionist entity

In 1979, Egypt became the second Muslim-majority country to recognise the Zionist entity after Turkey.

A peace treaty they signed included the establishment of diplomatic, economic and cultural ties, removal of barriers to trade and freedom of movement.

In 2005, Egypt signed a 20-year deal to export natural gas to the Zionist occupier, making up 40% of their natural gas.

Former Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak was a crucial ally of the Zionist entity and was described by the Zionist Prime Minister as the man who “kept the peace in the Middle East.”

In 2007, Mubarak’s government closed all of Egypt’s entrances to Gaza and prohibited any medical aid from entering.

In January 2011, Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, a former defence minister stated that “Egypt is not only our closest friend in the region; the cooperation between us goes beyond the strategic.”

Since Sisi’s coming to power in 2014, Egyptian authorities have relentlessly ensured that the Sinai border crossing with Gaza remains largely sealed.

Egypt and the Zionist entity cooperated in the most recent destruction and flooding of tunnels between Gaza and the Sinai, which are used for essential supplies.

Egypt also refuses the use of its port in al-Arish in northern Sinai for exchanging goods and commerce with Gaza.

The moves have suffocated Palestinians, whose only other passage to the outside world is through the Zionist entity – who ensure an airtight blockade is imposed.

In 2015, Egypt voted in favour of the Zionist entity to become a member of a UN committee – the first time Egypt has voted for them at the UN since the 1948 occupation.

In May 2016 the al-Sisi government introduced  ‘The Geography of the Arab World and the History of Modern Egypt’ textbook to school classrooms, which features more ‘inclusive and friendlier’ language towards the ZIonist entity.

9th grade school children are now required to memorise the provisions of the 1979 Zionist-Egypt peace treaty, and write on the advantages of peace between Egypt and the Zionist entity.

The Zionist entity has also been carrying out drone strikes in Sinai with Egypt’s consent.

Companies within the Zionist entity are in talks to sell around 3 billion cubic meters of gas a year to Egypt.

President Sisi continues the damning legacy of Anwar Sadat in legitimising and further consolidating the occupation of Palestine through his relationship with the Zionist entity.

The rulers of Muslim lands do not work on behalf of Islam and the Muslim Ummah, but instead secure the interests of their secular colonial masters.

They must thus be replaced by a sincere Islamic leadership – the Khilafah Rashidah – whose interests are that of Islam and the Muslim Ummah alone.

“The hypocrite men and the hypocrite women are as one another; they enjoin evil and forbid good, and they keep their hands shut. They have forsaken Allah, so He has forsaken them, (too). The hypocrites are indeed the transgressors.” [At-Tawbah : 67]
