HEBRON (Ma’an) — Members of the Islamist movement Hizb Ut-Tahrir said members were harassed and arrested following a symposium held at Hebron’s Palestine Polytechnic University on Tuesday, the group said.
Representatives from the organization, which advocates for the reformation of an Islamic caliphate across the Middle East and does not participate in elections, said at least ten young members of the group were detained, in an on-campus event organized by a student group affiliated with the movement.
The event, titled “Wars on Resources,” proceeded without issue, but when students left the campus of the school, a representative said, PA officers were waiting and took the young men to investigation centers.
