In these times we value the blessed revolution of Tunisia, which seeks liberation from the darkness of the previous era. The revolution seeks to free the land and the people from the tyranny and despotism that strangled political and economic life, and led to policies of marginalisation, impoverishment and starvation, which overwhelmed the land and the people.

In addition to this the ruling faction practiced policies aimed at eliminating the identity of the Ummah and deviating her from the straight path.

This revolution has awakened the region as a whole, and made her realise that true authority lies with the Ummah. She is the one who appoints the representatives who, with her choice and consent, wield authority in practice. This revolution was not specific to one trend, rather it was the revolution of the Ummah everywhere, and all the people are partners in it, as they are all partners in the water, pastures and fire.

In these times, we announce that Hizb ut-Tahrir, the party which has been working in Tunisia for almost 30 years, is a political party which refers to Islam for its proposals, thoughts and rulings. Its work is purely intellectual and political, and it works among the people and with them in political and intellectual work. It puts forward to them its political and intellectual convictions relying on proofs and evidence, without resorting to material actions to coerce people into adopting its convictions, embodying the words of Allah ta’ala, “The duty of the Messenger [is] only to convey” [al-Ma’idah, v99].

Hizb ut-Tahrir does not adopt any form of material action in the path to establish the Islamic state, regardless of its type, indeed it forbids itself from that. It rather views that change should follow the conduct of the Messenger of Allah [sall Allahu alaihi wa sallam] by returning the Ummah to the forms and structure that accord with her ideology, not by overwhelming force, but rather that the Ummah should respond to the call and work with the Hizb with all her different powers.

Based on this, the attempts some people are making through some media channels, to link the Hizb to extremism, sabotage, and acts of violence – against both Muslims, and non-Muslims and their places of worship – are bound to fail. They will not deceive the Ummah, who have given their farewells to the time of sleep and inattentiveness. It is well-known to all those who are in touch with the political work in the Ummah that Hizb ut-Tahrir does not commit acts of sabotage, it does not encourage such actions or adopt anything of the kind in its work to build the state.

It is not possible for the party that – while referring to the sublime Islamic culture for its thoughts, its rulings and its proposals for the state and system it works with you to establish – it could contradict the directives of the Messenger [alaihi salatu wassalam] to protect the blood, wealth and honour.

The Hizb considers that those who live amongst us from the followers of other religions have the same right of protection according to the Sharee’ah law that Muslims do. Whoever interferes with them or their wealth and honour is sinful in the sight of Allah ta’ala, and whoever harms them has done harm to the Messenger of Allah [sall Allahu alaihi wa sallam].

Based on these points, Hizb ut-Tahrir announces that the linking of some acts committed by suspicious agencies – whose intention is clear to all – to the Hizb is a fraud and a falsehood. Making these accusations against the Hizb is not an innocent act, and it is intended to achieve what regimes have forged in lies and unjust rumours hope to achieve, which makes clear who is behind these acts.

Hizb ut-Tahrir has accompanied the revolution in Tunisia and has participated in it, and in the events that acted as a precursor to it. During the previous twenty three years the Hizb suffered arrests, expulsion, torture, imprisonment and loss of livelihood at the hands of the regime, whose head has now been buried, let alone the sentences given in the last three years of the previous despotic regime in 14 different cases. The Hizb also participated in the demonstrations and marches that brought down the regime of Ben Ali and his gang.

In regards to these statements about us, which intend to create an excuse to attack us, we would like all the people to know – including the unsuccessful rumour-mongers – that Hizb ut-Tahrir is firm in its resolve to establish the rule of Allah in the land, regardless of the obstacles. The days in which the stick could simply be waved at the people and they would flee have expired. Now indeed the hour of account for every tyrant, despot or agent produced by the west is drawing close, in Tunisia and elsewhere.

So wait, and we too are waiting. The Ummah still remains, and the resolve of men still remains undying within the Ummah while those who represent the interests of her enemies have died, regardless of how much their power once was. The anger which Allah caused to descend on the Western-created agents is not far from you, so draw a lesson from that, and pull your hands back from the Ummah and from Hizb ut-Tahrir. Leave the Ummah to set in place that which her deen instructs her to, and do not try to contest with Allah for you will be overwhelmed. Work with us to establish the deen until you are successful, with the Pleasure of Allah, and the honour in this life and the Akhirah.
