Exactly 19 years and 9 months after the US invasion of Afghanistan, the US-installed puppet regime has fallen. The Taliban entered the country’s capital, Kabul, victorious after a long, hard battle against the occupying forces.
Afghanistan has been at war for over four decades and its people deserve peace and security and to live according to their Islamic beliefs. The last two decades saw US B-52 bombers and drones that were turned against the Afghan people, resulting in the bombing of weddings and hospitals. A vast US-spy network was set up to secure US interests and avert threats to its occupation.
Like much of the Muslim lands, the primary cause of misery in Afghanistan is foreign interference and meddling. The brutal Soviet occupation in the 1980s followed by an equally harsh American-UK-NATO occupation exacerbated the suffering of the Afghan people. Let us not forget how the latter occupation was aided by neighbouring Muslim regimes; they allowed US airbases to attack Afghanistan and allowed occupying forces to be fed, clothed and armed via supply lines running through their territories.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) mentioned in a famous hadith: لا يُلدَغُ المؤمنُ من جُحْرٍ واحد مرتين
“A believer is not bitten from the same hole twice.” (Related by Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Ahmad, Abu Dawood and Ibn Majah)
In light of the above hadith it is imperative that the new government must learn an important lesson: interference of and subservience to foreign powers and their proxies will never lead to stability and progress, rather one will remain impoverished and dependent.
Afghanistan needs real political change resulting in the uprooting of the US system, its political class and its infrastructure throughout the country. This political change can only come through Islam which will establish justice and heal the rifts between warring ethnic groupings in Afghanistan.
Our call to the Muslims in Afghanistan and the region is as follows:
- The US now needs to be expelled from the region comprehensively along with its intelligence infrastructure and agents.
- The Islamic Khilafah system must be implemented, which will provide basic rights such as security, education and welfare.
- Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia must be unified into a single Islamic Khilafah state which will result in the creation of a powerful and dominant state able to safeguard its citizens, unify the rest of the Ummah and protect its territories from foreign aggression.
We pray that our advice is heeded and that Allah (swt) grants this noble Ummah further victories and happiness through the establishment of the Khilafah state on the back of the sacrifices of the Muslims in Afghanistan, the region and the wider Muslim world.
