One year on from the beginning of the ‘Arab Spring’ uprisings western media continues to portray these events as being motivated by a desire amongst the people for a western-style democratic rule, but are these claims borne out by the facts on the ground?

Islam or Democracy or Sustainable development and peace?
The Arabian people are in the unique situation that they can choose to apply three new concepts in their economic development. In order to do so, two laws have to be adopted: the consumer should be allowed to deduct from his taxable income the money he spends on products that maintain Nature in perfect condition and the costs of running the state should be managed by the tax payers.
The law that allows this management of the public funds will take a source of corruption away because there will no longer be money to spend in the hands of those who did not earn it.
When these laws are adopted, the Arabian countries will become the centre of research to develop an economy in which goods and services are generated that are useful in maintaining ways of living that leave the environment sound, the Arabian economy will become one of the most powerful and the Arabian people will be among the richest, in medium term.
Dear Willem Adrianus de Bruijn,
The Islamic system of governance gives authority to the people – i.e. they have the right to choose who rules over them and electing him,
The Islamic economic system had detailed rules for taxation, revenues and expenditure. Taxation in the Islamic system is based upon wealth rather than income and thus allows one much more disposable income.
Wassalam, Abdallah
