Insult on the Messenger of Allah {sallallahu alaihi wasallam}

It is time for the Muslim Ummah to comprehensively reject the uncivilised Western values and establish a State that will defend Islam.

Once again Muslims have seen a cheap, filthy, hate-filled, deliberately provocative way insult to the Messenger of Allah{sallallahu alaihi wasallam – Peace and Blessings be upon him) in the form of a film on the web. As has occurred in the past, the rapid response from sincere Muslims – in particular in Cairo and Benghazi – has shaken the political establishment in Washington and elsewhere. It has also met with the usual accusations from secular commentators, deriding Islam as intolerant of criticism, who cannot fathom why insulting the Messenger of Allah {sallallahu alaihi wasallam – Peace and Blessings be upon him} draws such a passionate response from Muslims.

In response to these events, we would like to make the following points:

1. Insulting the Messenger of Allah {sallallahu alaihi wasallam} has always been and always will be totally unacceptable to Muslims. This is a non-negotiable point for us across the world.

2. These actions illustrate, more than anything else, the depraved nature of secular societies that have built their values on the abolition of religion from life’s affairs. People have sadly become used to the fact that such societies treat women as sexual commodities for the gratification of men and profits of corporations; and that even children are increasingly unsafe from the ‘pursuit of happiness’ as the sole purpose of life.  We regularly hear complaints about broken societies in the West, where people no longer respect each other, their teachers or even the law. Yet few people will admit that it is because society has lost its respect for God, and considers insulting the Prophets of Allah {Peace be upon them} as legitimate free expression, that it has opened the door to the anti-social behaviour that damages its very fabric.

3. As usual, Muslims are expected to endure other peoples’ freedom to insult & vilify. The film follows a western tradition that in the past gave rise to the likes of the Ku Klux Klan or, in Europe, the persecution of Jews and Gypsies – when those like the makers of this film used their free expression to demonise people. Such cheap attacks do not exist in a vacuum, but are propaganda in a world where the USA and its allies, like the UK & France, attack Muslim countries, lock up Muslims without trial or evidence for indefinite periods; and where mainstream politicians try to gain cheap political capital from vilifying Islam and Muslims. This contrasts with Islamic values that prohibit insults to the religions of others, so harmonising society made up of people with different creeds and colours successfully over centuries.

4. The tragedy for Muslims today, and one reason why they react with such passion in these circumstances is that they have no state, and no government that upholds the values of Islam. It should not have been the case that individuals kill a US ambassador (when the Shari’ah did not permit this). Rather what should have happened is that Muhammad Morsi in Egypt, Mohamed el-Magariaf in Libya, Asif Ali Zardari in Pakistan, Abdullah al Saud in Saudi Arabia – and every other so-called leader in the Muslim world – expel the ambassadors, break diplomatic relations and not sell a drop of oil to any country that permits such insults. These rulers are either spineless or care nothing for such insults, and accept the feeble lip service paid by Obama and Clinton about the actions of Jones and others, which leaves the enraged citizens feeling impotent.

5. Islam did not forbid debate about its beliefs. Islam did not forbid critiques of its way of life. Indeed, it obliged scrutiny and firm accounting of its leaders. It ordered patience to the individual Muslim who sustained an insult to themselves from the ignorant. It give unparalleled rights to all of its citizens – Muslims and non-Muslims alike – to have their lives, beliefs, honour, property and minds protected – something no other system has achieved.

However, it also gave due right to Allah & His Messengers not to be insulted and there is no state in the world that dares to carry these noble values in the international arena.

Hizb ut-Tahrir struggles the world over to replace the corrupt systems and remove the spineless rulers in the Muslim world to establish a Khilafah state that will uphold the noble values of Islam and carry them in the world; that will put the rights and honour of the Messenger {sallallahu alaihi wasallam – Peace and Blessings be upon him} above loans and alliance from the USA or Europe.

We will continue this struggle and call all Muslims to join us in this work. It is time for the Muslim Ummah to comprehensively reject the uncivilised Western values and establish a State that will defend Islam.

We urge all Muslims to counter these lies by carrying the message of Islam to others in Western society and show the amazing qualities of the Messenger of Allah {sallallahu alaihi wasallam} as a Prophet, human being, husband & father, statesman, political leader and military commander.

Finally we urge all to not to remain silent, and to vocally condemn those that insult Allah’s Messenger {sallallahu alaihi wasallam} – whom we love more than our parents, our children and our own selves.
